Kadkga, also known locally as Khagga, is a marine catfish commonly found in inshore waters and estuaries. It is recognised by its slender body and whisker-like barbels around the mouth (which resemble a cat’s whiskers). Unlike many scaled fishes, catfish often have smoother, scaleless or lightly scaled skin with a greyish or olive back that fades to silvery-white on the belly.
Texture & Flavor:
Its flesh is fairly soft, moist and fatty, with a “fishy” aroma that is stronger than milder white fishes. Because of its fat content and somewhat stronger taste, it handles spices well.
